Alvin J. Forler was born on January 6, 1895, in Philipsburg. His father was John L. Forler. When he attested, in London Ontario on April 23rd, 1918, he was 23 years, 3 months old, living in Baden, was a mechanic, single, Lutheran. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall, had a “fair” complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair and had 2 scars over his left knee cap and a scar on the lower third of his right leg. His sight was 20/20 in both eyes and his hearing was “normal” in both ears.
