The 2013 Tree of Light project had a goal which was set in cooperation with the Municipality of Strathroy \u2013 Caradoc. \u00a0In 2013, as part of the municipality\u2019s downtown improvement plan, the S-C Lions were asked to\u00a0provide lockable bicycle racks for the downtown so that citizens could ride to stores and be assured that their bicycle was safely secured. \u00a0The Strathroy – Caradoc Lions also sponsored the construction and installation of wheelchair accessible picnic tables at local parks: Alexandra, Pool Shelter on Park Street, and York Street Soccer Fields.<\/p>\n
Throughout the month of November, Strathroy \u2013 Caradoc Lions approached individual citizens and businesses to \u201cbuy a bulb\u201d on the Tree of Light and to \u201csponsor a bike rack or picnic table\u201d. \u00a0Nine (9) bike stands, and 6 picnic tables\u00a0were purchased and the municipality installed them.<\/p>\n
