Ltn Wilfred James Cooper, the son of Dr Thomas Cooper, was born at Melbourne ON. In early 1917 he became a Sergeant in the Canadian Army Dental Corps. In Sept 1917 he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps (Royal Air Force). He was employed as a night bombing Pilot with the 101st Squadron. His airplane crashed on take off on the 5 Nov 1918, just a few days before the war ended. He is buried at Roisel near Peronne France. He is commemorated in Soldier’s Tower at the University of Toronto as well as the Strathroy Cenotaph and St Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Here is some information about Wilfred Cooper’s final resting place in Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension in France. You will notice that this is the resting place for many German veterans as well.
