1918 – Victoria Cross at Moreuil Wood

In a cavalry charge at Moreuil Wood, France, Lieutenant Gordon Flowerdew ordered an attack on two lines of German infantry, causing heavy casualties and forced the enemy to retire. Flowerdew was mortally wounded and posthumously was awarded the Victoria Cross.
